Royal Court Home Page

Welcome to the website of the Royal Court of Guernsey.

The Royal Court has existed on its present site in St Peter Port since the early 1800s and today caters for a very wide range of activity, including criminal and civil court proceedings, meetings of Guernsey's parliament, civic receptions and ceremonial occasions, marriage ceremonies, archiving and research and the registration of births, deaths, marriages and property conveyances.  This website will provide you with information to guide and assist you in all of these and many other areas.

The Royal Court building is open from 8.45am till 4.30pm, however the public counters of H.M. Greffier and H.M. Sheriff are only open on weekdays between 9am and 4pm.

Please note that it is the Royal Court policy that cash payments in excess of £1,000.00 will not be accepted.

Please also explore the site to learn a little bit more about the structure of Guernsey's courts and the officials working within them, the organisations that the Court works alongside, the history of the Court and its buildings and the different operating departments within the Court, including the Bailiff's Chambers and the Offices of His Majesty's Greffier and His Majesty's Sheriff.

Access to the Guernsey Legal Resources website is also available.  This website is a joint initiative of the Royal Court and the Law Officers of the Crown, providing access to a comprehensive database of Guernsey's legal material, including legislation, recent judgments and Law Reports.
